Jeff B Evans

Jeff B EvansRaised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Jeff Evans has always heard and followed the call of wilderness adventure. His passion for tough challenges has led to a career guiding clients up the highest mountains in the world, motivational speakig, and emergency Physician Assistant services in disaster and war-torn regions. Jeff's climbing began in the late 80s on the rock faces of Colorado and California. Living out of his truck with his dog, Jeff spent countless exciting days scaling walls in places like Yosemite and Rocky Mountain National Park. Mountaineering soon followed and by the mid-90s, Jeff was guiding clients and working search and rescue on North America's highest mountain, Mt. McKinley, now Denali. Jeff's experiences led to a meeting in 1993 with blind climber Erik Weihenmayer. Their partnership, built on sharing risks together, would accomplish feats that neither imagined at first. Together, they shattered many preconceptions about the "handicaps" of the disabled by climbing Denali, El Capitan (California), and Aconcagua (Argentina). They teamed up to compete in adventure races and have guided groups of disabled veterans and others on peaks around the world. They reached the summit of Mt. Everest in 2001-still a first for a blind climber. The teamwork, communication, and leadership skills Jeff has honed during his amazing life has given him the tools to become a dynamic and inspirational public speaker. Regardless of age, gender, or profession, audiences worldwide are encouraged by Jeff's stories to overcome whatever obstacles have landed in their paths. Jeff has appeared on ABC-TV's Expedition Impossible, the Travel Channel, and in award-winning documentaries Farther Than the Eye Can See, Blindsight, and High Ground. Jeff provides volunteer emergency medical services to earthquake victims in Nepal, troops and civilians in Iraq, and climbers scaling Everest. Jeff received his undergraduate degree in anthropology from the University of Colorado in Boulder and his masters as a Physician Assistant at Drexel University, Philadelphia. Jeff currently resides in Colorado with his wife Merry Beth, son Jace, and dog Tucker. Read More Read Less
