Jean MurphJean Murph first wrote for the Coppell Star before creating the Citizens' Advocate, an independently owned community newspaper in Coppell, in 1984. She is an active member of the Coppell Historical Society and lives with her family in nearby Grapevin, Texas. Lou Duggan was elected to the Coppell City Council in 1983 and served as the city's sixth mayor from 1985 to 1989. He joined Jean Murph at the Citizens' Advocate newspaper in 1990 as associate publisher/editor until 2010. During the intervening twenty years he and Murph have authored hundreds of articles, columns and feature stories about Coppell, many of which focused on the city's history.
