Janette UmurungiJanette Umurungi is a nurse, a sociologist and a Human Rights promoter. She is currently working with seniors and their families in a Long Term Care Facility and she enjoys respect and recognition in her contribution to the healthcare sector. With ovr 8 years experience in the customer service area and 16 years experience in the gerontological field, Janette is a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) currently serving as a Resident Assessment Instrument/Minimal Data Set (RAI/MDS) Coordinator. MS. Umurungi regards herself as a caregiver, leader, counsellor and an enhancer, due to the experience that she obtained from her four years of education at Carleton University where she obtained a degree - BA Honours in Human Rights and Sociology. Her brief attendance of some courses towards an MA in Conflict Studies (Conflict Resolution courses) at the University Saint Paul/ Ottawa University accorded her the tools to deal with the caregiver stress that comes with living with her husband, a 1994 Rwandan Genocide survivor with undiagnosed/untreated Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
