These images and stories serve as a testimony to the lives and experiences of area residents past and present, frm William Styron to the great physicist Nathan Isgur. Jane Carter Webb, an emeritus professor of physics and computer science at Christopher Newport University, has a long-standing love of and interest in local history. She is an active Newport News resident, has authored of numerous books, and has received four grants from the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, some of which have been focused upon the region, its residents, and their relationship to the water.
