James R SchiffmanJames R. Schiffman: Dr. Schiffman is an Associate Professor in the Communication Department at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, Georgia. Previously, he served as Chief Copy Editor at CNN International, where he was involved in ediorial decision making, network style, hiring, and training. Prior to joining CNN, Dr. Schiffman was a staff correspondent for The Wall Street Journal in Atlanta and The Asian Wall Street Journal in Hong Kong, Seoul, and Beijing. As a correspondent in Beijing between 1986 and 1988, Dr. Schiffman reported extensively on Chinese economic reforms, the role of foreign investment, and Chinese politics and culture at a time of rapid change and turmoil. Dr. Schiffman speaks Mandarin Chinese, and lectures occasionally to academic and community groups.
