James Manlio MeredithJames Manlio Meredith was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He moved to Los Angeles in 1947 and worked in the Motion Picture Industry for thirty years as a mold and model maker. As I work now, each piece has a life of its own. I like the sensuality of the process, the unknown end. When it works, I have a feeling of dancing inside. I make art because I like to make art. It gives me a sense of freedom. I enjoy being able to work in three dimensions directly from concepts and to feel the materials take form. Being safe sometimes works but taking risks for me is the most satisfying result. Mr. Meredith has had solo exhibitions in the 1960s and 1970s. His group exhibitions in California include: Hangar Studio; Arts in Action; Little Gallery; Rental Gallery; Long Beach Museum of Art; May Company and Unitarian Church of San Fernando Valley.
