James George JatrasJames George Jatras is an analyst and commentator with extensive experience in international relations, government affairs, and legislative politics. He holds a JD from Georgetown and a BA from Penn State. From 1979 to 1985, he was a Foreign Service fficer with the U.S. Department of State serving in Mexico and on the Soviet desk in Washington, D.C. From 1985 to 2002, he served as a policy advisor and analyst for the Republican leadership in the U.S. Senate. In 1988, he co-authored an amicus curiae brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in the case Webster v. Reproductive Health Services on behalf of the Orthodox Church, advocating the reversal of Roe v. Wade. Since entering the private sector, his work has spanned a range of legislative and political issues and international affairs, including matters related to foreign policy, international security, human rights, public diplomacy, immigration, international trade and finance, and the global terror risk environment, as well as domestic issues. He is a frequent speaker, panelist, and seminar participant on numerous topics, has made numerous media appearances, and is a frequent contributor to print and online publications, both in the U.S. and abroad. Jatras is the son of Greek-American parents from Harrisburg, PA. His father was a career U.S. Air Force fighter pilot with combat service in Vietnam and assignments to Athens and Moscow. His mother was twice honored by the Serbian Church and government for her tireless advocacy on behalf of Serbs and Serbia. His beloved wife of 45 years fell asleep in the Lord in 2019.
