James BultemaHistorian and former LAPD officer James Bultema knows about policing in America. He is the author of Guardians of Angels: A History of the Los Angeles Police Department and several other law enforcement books. The Protectors tells a story of the histry of police departments using spectacular photographs. Bultema traveled to archives, libraries, museums, and private collections in conjunction with the internet to view thousands of images to find the exact photographs needed to convey the story of The Protectors. Former LAPD's chiefs of police, Charlie Beck, William Bratton, and current chief Michel Moore, think so much of Bultema's work that they each have written a foreword for different books.
