J W JulianThe love of reading, traveling, writing, and creating art were the four primary activities which contributed to J. W. Julian's debut novel, Ebby the Magnificent, Tails of an Elusive Baby Bunny. 1. Reading: Some of her fondest memories as a child wereof reading the Wizard of Oz books and the Tales of Narnia. She loved the fantasy world where animals and humans communicated and interacted together. She also loved books that made animals the central characters, such as Yellow Eyes, by Rutherford George Montgomery, the Black Stallion, Justin Morgan Had a Horse and Where the Red Fern Grows. In addition, books written about admirable individuals such as Crazy Horse, Sitting Bull, Harriet Tubman, George Washington Carver, and other powerful leaders stirred her imagination. 2. Travel: Visiting Western Europe's most iconic cultural cities (London, Paris, Bruges, Delft, and Amsterdam) when she was 20 years old, forever destined her to become a world traveler and visitor of art museums. She has traveled to every continent except Antarctica, and believes travel is the most meaningful and exhilarating way to learn about the world and its inhabitants. 3. Writing: J. W. Julian has enjoyed writing since she was a young girl penning poems and short stories for school. Her love of reading and writing led her to major in English Literature. She attended law school at the University of New Mexico, then moved to the Pacific Northwest. Her law practice focused on protecting vulnerable and elderly adults from abuse. While practicing law, she began writing travelogues describing her overseas adventures to several hundred friends, whom she dubbed "Vicarious Travelers." As digital photography and internet cafes became more commonplace in remote areas, she started inserting pictures into her travelogues to enhance the readers' experience.4. Art: J. W. Julian and her husband retired in 2014 and started dividing their time between a small village in Croatia where he was born and their home in the Pacific Northwest. At her husband's encouragement, she began painting. Soon, she combined writing, art, and travel by including her painting in her travelogues. In 2020, when the pandemic canceled all travel, J. W. Julian began writing and illustrating Ebby the Magnificent, Tails of an Elusive Baby Bunny, which combines her love of reading, writing, painting, traveling and being kind above all else.
