J Paul MooreA Theatre Arts major at Los Angeles City College, J. Paul Moore began a 35-year affiliation with the original Renaissance Pleasure Faire in 1967. Over his tenure, Mr. Moore has taught pre-faire workshops in Elizabethan Language, Swashbuckling 101, an Guerrilla Theatre. In addition to writing and directing many stage shows he has portrayed major theme characters: Robin Hood, Sir Francis Drake and the Lord Mayor, Captain Sir Tristan Hawkins. A co-founder of theatrical and environmental groups, J. Paul has also directed a covert band of theatre guerrillas, The Lord Mayor's Players for several faires. Much of the material detailed in the Compendium of Bits, Chapter VI, evolved from the talents of these troupes. Mr. Moore and his former wife Sandy are proud parents of three children Ryan, a boy and the oldest, Morgan and Courtney both girls. Ryan and Morgan grew up at the Renaissance Pleasure Faires and Courtney is a five-year veteran of The Colorado Renaissance Festival. Ryan and his wife Danielle have recently welcomed Mr. Moore's first grandson, Alexander, to the world. A magician as well as an actor and author, J. Paul has also written, Busking as a Mercenary Art or How to Hustle a Bar and Reserve Stock v.s.o.p. both books on sleight-of-hand magic. For the world of swordplay and dering-do he has a hand-book entitled Swashbuckling 101 and is currently working on a project entitled Archaeo/Mythology-Eire which examines and compares both historical and legendary timelines of prehistoric Ireland.
