Iván DuqueIván Duque Márquez. In June 2018, he became Colombia'syoungest president-elect, receiving the most votes in the country's history. Hehas been globally acclaimed for his leadership on environmental issues, such asenergy transition ad the conservation of the Amazon, as well as his handlingof the largest migratory crisis in the Americas. Previously, his roles haveincluded Senator, head of the InterAmerican Development Bank's (IDB) Cultural, Solidarity and Creativity Affairs Division, advisor for the United NationsDepartment of Political Affairs, and head senior counsellor for Colombia on theIDB's board of directors, among others. He is a lawyer with studies inphilosophy and humanities. He has a Master's in Public Policy Management from GeorgetownUniversity, and another in International Law from the American University, bothof which are in Washington D.C. He also has an honorary doctorate in Economicsfrom Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. He has written 11 books, as wellas numerous columns in various publications, and has taught at university. Hehas been acknowledged with the highest honors in a number of countries andrecently won the Teddy Roosevelt International Conservation Award, given by theprestigious International Conservation Award, given bythe prestigious International ConservationCaucus Foundation (ICCF). He is married toMaría Juliana Ruiz and has three children.
