He has published articles on the confessional and communal development of Shiʿism, sixteenth-century qurani exegesis, freedom of conscience in classical Islamic theology, the misattribution of a Muʿtazili work to a Shiʿi author and the misattribution of a critical ethical text by a Muʿtazili scholar to a Sunni author.
