Howard B Pate JrAuthors Howard B. Pate Jr. and Jami Sheppard have deep roots in the community. Mr. Pate, a World War II veteran, was named the town historian in 1994. He was postmaster for 31 years and served on the first Spring Lake Chamber of Commerce board of dirctors in 1962.
