Helen ShearwoodHelen Shearwood is an Australian/British artist with a twenty-five year background in design, fascinated by the way things can change if viewed in a different light. During her time in the design industry, in Perth and London, Helen gained experiencein graphic design, copywriting, print production, publishing, illustration, art direction, website design and interior styling. Her career was interrupted by ill health, involving two battles with cancer, a bone marrow transplant and mental health challenges. At her most difficult time, in 2017, unexpected beauty - in the form of lampposts, letterboxes and other ordinary, everyday things - cut through the darkness and showed her there was another way to view things, in all aspects of her life, giving her renewed hope. This marked a turning point, and taught Helen not only to question accepted labels as truths, but to also question her own labels, her own thoughts and her own beliefs. Helen photographs ordinary, everyday things, highlighting the intrinsic beauty that she now believes can be found in everything. Her work has been exhibited and sold in England, where she spent three months in 2019 living with her aunt, Jane Fielder, a professional artist and retired gallery owner. Helen loves the idea of bringing her art full circle. From the overlooked and ordinary, to gallery walls, and now back to being part of our ordinary, everyday lives, via the pages of this book and future collections. Helen believes that the ordinary is art - that life itself can be art - and is passionate about sharing this with others. Prints, homewares, wearable art, stationery and more are in the process of being created. Read More Read Less
