HCThe author was born and raised in Beijing, residing in China until age 25. He has witnessed China's significant social transformations over the past fifty years. Growing up, he gained unique insights into the Western world through interactions with freign traders visiting China, as both his parents worked in the country's foreign trade import company. In the mid-1980s, two of his closest friends moved to the United States to study and eventually settled there. In 1988, the author joined a large Chinese state-owned foreign trade company, making his first visit to the U.S. in 1990 for business negotiations. He relocated to North America in 1999 and has since divided his time between China and the U.S., closely observing the dramatic changes in both societies. An admirer of historical dramas, the author is particularly inspired by iconic films such as The Godfather, Once Upon a Time in America, Forrest Gump, Brokeback Mountain, Slumdog Millionaire, The Best of Youth, and Shoah. With a unique perspective on U.S.-China relations, he has long hoped for a film that reflects the complex fifty-year relationship between the two countries. He began writing The Dream of an Era to fill this void. Originally a personal project, the work has since evolved, and he now seeks to publish it, inviting others to contribute to and further refine the narrative. Read More Read Less
