Harrison MacDonald Love

Harrison MacDonald LoveA graduate of The Rhode Island School of Design, Harrison Love is a painter, author, and illustrator. An American artist born in New York and growing up in Brussels Belgium, Harrison started his arts education early in European schools and under the utelage of his artistic family. As a young adult having lived and worked in places as diverse as New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Singapore, Peru, Colombia, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, the nomadic life and influences of Harrison Love are not neatly categorized. The style of Harrison's abstract work is derived from the art of calligraphy in combination with the modern stylings of contemporary American Graffiti. Harrison draws his inspiration from patterns in nature as well as scientific theories about the nature of memory formation and relationships between visual information and audible input. Harrison has created murals for Google, The City of Detroit, and for The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. His work has been shown around the world and is a part of the artists collection of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Harrison moved to Los Angeles in 2017 from San Francisco, where he was the curator of art pioneers The SUB-liminal and Big Umbrella Studios with successful collaborations with SOMArts, the San Francisco Art Commission, and others. Since relocating to New York, Harrison's work has been a welcome addition to many beautiful private collections, event spaces, galleries and establishments. He creates daily and is currently working out of his studio in the famed Brewery Artist Lofts in Los Angeles as well as his private studio in Brooklyn. In February 2019 Harrison returned to San Francisco to paint The Mural Of Possible Futures adjacent to the famous Mission Dolores Park. Love's mural explores the disconnect between the utopian vision for a reciprocal relationship between humankind and nature we all claim to be striving for and the desolate dystopian future of extractive practices and the extinction of bees based on our current trajectory.
