H Allen BrooksH. Allen Brooks may be credited with coining the designation 'Prairie School' with the publication of his doctoral dissertation of that name in 1957. His classic work The Prairie School, which received the Alice Davis Hitchcck Book Award from the Society of Architectural Historians for the most distinguished work of scholarship in the history of architecture published by a North American scholar in 1971-72, has been in print continuously since then. Professor emeritus of fine arts at the University of Toronto and a past president of the Society of Architectural Historians, Brooks is also the author of Frank Lloyd Wright and the Prairie School and Le Corbusier's Formative Years and is the editor of Prairie School Architecture: Studies from the 'Western Architect, 'Writings on Wright, The Le Corbusier Archive, and Le Corbusier.
