Guy GibsonGuy Gibson (1918-1944) joined the RAF in 1936, and by 1942, he was a Wing Commander in Bomber Command leading his squadron on raids on major German targets. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for his gallantry and inspiring leadership on the Dambusterraid in May 1943. He was also awarded Commander of the Legion of Merit by the United States, Companion of the Distinguished Service Order and Bar, Distinguished Flying Cross and Bar, War Medal 1939-1945, 1939-45 Star, and the Air Crew Europe Star.
