Grant McConnellGrant McConnell was born in Portland, Oregon. After living year 'round in Stehekin in the 1940s, he maintained a home in the valley and spent part of each year there until his death in 1994. He was a founding board member of the North CascadesConservation Council and he and his wife, Jane, were leaders in the effort to establish the North Cascades National Park.
