Gopa Ranjan MishraDr. Gopa Ranjan Mishra (b. 1 Nov. 1954) had his education at Ravenshaw Collegiate School, Ravenshaw College, Cuttack and Utkal University, Bhubaneswar where he did his Master's in English. He has translated into Odia some stories of Tagore, Chekhov, augham, Ruskin Bond, Khushwant Singh and many others. Dr Mishra has also translated into Odia some poems of Tennyson, Browning, Hardy, Eliot and many other poets. The Sun and the Candle is his well-known book of poems. His latest English translation is Birds of Water (2023), a collection of Odia poems of Jayanta Mahapatra. After serving different Colleges he retired as Principal of JKBK Govt. College, Cuttack.
