Gloria Jean RoysterFounder, Friends of Madame Taylor, activist, and author. In 2018 Tampa, Florida newcomer Gloria Jean Royster helped sponsor and erect a historical marker in honor of African American Tampa pioneer Fortune Taylor. Fortune Street and the Fortune TaylorBridge in Downtown Tampa are named for her. Gloria Jean draws on her creative backgrounds in journalism and community organizing to research, write content, and coordinate "Stories of Fortune" that celebrate and introduce "Madame" Fortune Taylor to the broader public. This is the first of two projects she is doing. Her book "Finding Fortune: Madame and Me" is scheduled to be released in 2019. She lives two blocks south of Fortune Street. Read More Read Less
