Geraldine G GirardGeraldine Gardner was born in theappalachian Mountains and it was herfather who gave her the love of thesemountains. although she did not grow upin the mountains her parents moved northafter her father came home from fightingin World War ii. He likedworking oncars and they moved to detroit, Michiganand he worked for General Motors.While in college she was studyingdrafting & design she became interestedin Journalism. She took several coursesand worked on the college newspaper.after moving back to the mountains, she attended Mars Hill Universityto study teaching specializing in elementary education & Middle Gradeeducation as well as Visual art, she taught Visual art in the MadisonCounty Schools for 13 years.She was active in many writing workshops and joined the Writer'sWorkshop in asheville, nC. She worked on weekends as a docent for theThomas Wolfe House. and also acted in their living History that wasperformed in the 80s.
