He is author of Presidential Leadership and African Americans (2015) and co-author of Heroic Leadership: An Influence Taonomy of 100 Exceptional Individuals (2013) and Heroes: What They Do & Why We Need Them (2011). With Georgia Sorenson and James MacGregor Burns, he edited the Encyclopedia of Leadership (2004), developed by Berkshire Publishing for SAGE Publications.
