George Brandon EsslingerGeorge Brandon Esslinger was born on Oct. 13, 1929 in Birmingham, AL, with his birth as next to the youngest of six children of Charles Burton and Ruby Brandon Esslinger. George's early life during the Depression was centered around family, attendingschool, surviving playing with homemade toys, and finally moving off on his own.George's life led him to the military in the post-World War II era where he served in the Marine Reserves and the Air Force. His recollections include family who served and boys he grew up with in Birmingham who lost their lives.After leaving the military, George attended Auburn University and Howard College before entering the work force full-time. The book includes his upward climb in the industry before starting his own consulting company. A love of flying saw George purchase several small aircraft which he learned to fly for business and pleasure. The Experimental Aircraft Association began a Young Eagles program where George flew many young people interested in flying. In 2000, he joined the Civil Air Patrol. He flew after the World Trade Center attack in 2001.Despite hard times and losing family members, George relied on lessons learned growing up, his faith and love of family which have been uplifting.
