Geoffrey CarnGeoffrey Carn was born in the northwest of England and spent most of his childhood in the Far East and Germany, moving with his father's army postings.
Having gained a history degree, he worked for local newspapers before qualifying as a registere nurse-a career he enjoyed for 30 years.
Retiring as a nurse, he returned to his first love: writing, one shared with distant relative, James Joyce.
