Geoff StalkerGeoff Stalker was born in 1948 in Whitehaven, Cumbria. He attended Lowca School and Whitehaven Grammar School, where he played in the school's rugby, cricket and athletics teams. Following a Fine Art Foundation course at Loughborough University, he cmpleted a B.A. in Fine Art at Sunderland University and a PGCE at Reading University. As a student, he was founder Chairman of the British Polytechnics Sports Federation. He did summer jobs at a brick-works and a slate-mine before a twenty year career in teaching. After exhibitions in New York at the Lincoln Centre and the Ward-Nasse Gallery, he became a full-time artist, specialising in portraiture and ditches. His work is in private and public collections in the U.K., the U.S.A., New Zealand and France. He was not the greatest rugby player, but he did play against every British and Irish international hooker of his generation and was a successful professional rugby coach for thirty years.
