Mazza is a former senior counsel at the U.S. Department of Justice, where he worked on a range of civil rights issues, including religious discrimination in federally assisted programs, sexual victimization in prisons, employment discrimination ased on sex in police agencies, racial profiling in law enforcement, and access to language services and disability accommodations in public institutions. G.J. Mazza has also been a vocal advocate against age discrimination, especially in higher education. With his wife, Cherie Brown, the founder and executive director of the National Coalition Building Institute, G.J. Mazza has written on effective programs to promote diversity and inclusion, including the book Healing into Action. G.J. Mazza has been long active in ecumenical and interreligious projects, with a particular interest in combatting antisemitism and improving Christian-Jewish relations.
