Francisco BrinesFrancisco Brines (born 1932) is probably the most famous living poet in the Spanish-speaking world. Author of several collections of poetry and critical essays, he has for many years come to be seen as a representative of a whole school of Spanish pots, the so-called Generation of the 1950s. His poetry has been recognised with numerous awards, including the Federico García Lorca Prize, the Reina Sofía Prize for Ibero-American Poetry, and the Cervantes Prize for Literature. In 2001 he was elected a member of the Royal Spanish Academy. He lives in Oliva near Valencia.
