Frances BeineckeFrances Beinecke is an environmental activist and wilderness advocate. She was appointed by President Barack Obama to the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling in 2010, and has served for organizationsdedicated to nature conservation and preservation, including the Wilderness Society, the World Resources Institute, the Nature Conservancy, and more. Beinecke is the recipient of the Robert Marshall Award, the Wilderness Society's highest award presented to a private citizen who has never held federal office, as well as the Rachel Carson Award, the National Audubon's Society's honor for distinguished American women environmentalists.
