Florian

Sara Florian is from Italy, where she obtained her PhD in modern philology at Ca' Foscari University and attended Harvard University Summer School with Ca' Foscari University. She studied literature and criticism at Singapore Management Universityand at The University of the West Indies research facilities in Jamaica, Trinidad, and Barbados. Florian's writings have appeared in World Literature Today, The Sunday Gleaner, Prometeo, The Caribbean Writer, and Tripwire. Her work has been reviewed in La Nuova, Italy; Nouvelles Semaine, Guadeloupe; Kaieteur News, Guyana; 103rd Meridian East, Singapore/Russia; and The Straits Times, Singapore. While teaching Italian at the National University of Singapore, Florian wrote librettos for operas, and her poetry has been shortlisted for Catharsis - Poetry Festival Singapore. Her book CARIBBEAN COUNTERPOINT: THE AESTHETICS OF SALT IN LASANA SEKOU (House of Nehesi Publishers, 2019) is a critical study on contemporary Caribbean literature. CREVICES is the first poetry book by Sara Florian.
