She received her master's degree from CSULB, taught fo 37 years. Florence worked with poets Bill Mohr and Richard Garcia and attended workshops at Idyllwild, Taos, Esalen Institute, Napa Valley Writers' Conference, Bread Loaf Writers' Conference and others.
