Fern G Z CarrFERN G. Z. CARR is a former lawyer, teacher and past President of both the local branch of the BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and Project Literacy Kelowna Society. She is a Full Member of the League of Canadian Poets and has servd as the League's Poet-in-Residence mentoring young writers. A Pushcart Prize nominee, Carr composes and translates poetry in six languages including Mandarin Chinese. Carr's poetry has been published extensively Carr has won national and international poetry contests such as: NASA's Going to Mars Contest; Carr was deeply honoured to have had Pierre DesRuisseaux, a former Parliamentary Poet Laureate, select her poem, "I Am", as Poem of the Month for Canada. Her ultimate honour though was having been one of the winners of NASA's Going to Mars Contest with one of her poems currently orbiting the planet Mars aboard NASA's MAVEN spacecraft.
