Fang ZhengMs. Fang ZHENG was a prolific writer during the Republic of China. Fang (1910-1961) was born in Wujiang, Jiangsu. She showed her literary talent at an early age and was appreciated by her uncle Yazi LIU, a well-known Chinese poet and political activit. In 1930, Fang studied in the Foreign Languages Department of the School of Liberal Arts of Yenching University. In 1933, Fang was married to Dr. Xiangeng ZHOU, a famous professor in psychology of Tsinghua University. Fang began writing for newspapers in 1944 in Kunming where her husband, Dr. Zhou, taught at the National Southwest Associated University. She served as editor-in-chief of the "Women's Literature and Art" column of the "Central Daily News" and the "Women and Family" column of the "Peking Times". Fang also wrote columns for many newspapers and magazines in Kunming, Peking and Tianjin.
