Ewen RaballandEwen was living in Zambia when he broke his leg and was diagnosed with cancer or osteosarcoma. After going back and forth to a hospital in South Africa, he went to France to start chemotherapy. When this book was originally published, Ewen was ten yers old. He lived in Bethesda, Maryland with his parents and three siblings. He loved planes and enjoyed playing with his flight simulator. In the future, he wanted to be an aerospace engineer. After a long battle with cancer, Ewen died on 22 November 2014 in Marseilles, France and he was buried on Belle-Île-en-Mer (an island in the Brittany region of France). Helene Elisabeth is Ewen's mom. In a previous life she was a lawyer. She enjoys reading, running, swimming, and biking with her friends.
