He saw life as a drug addict, hitch-hiker and homeless teenager before experiencing it as a family man, youth minister and senior pastor. He and his wife, Julie, married only two months after meting and enjoyed over forty years of marriage. They have two children (four counting the two they received by marriage), two granddaughters and four grandsons, one of whom is currently living at his home in heaven.
