Elof Axel CarlsonElof Axel Carlson is a geneticist, historian of science, and writer. He is the author of 15 books and has written a newspaper column, Life Lines, on science since 1997. He taught at Queen's University in Canada, at UCLA, and at Stony Brook Universitywhere he is emeritus Distinguished Teaching Professor, retiring in 2001. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a recipient of the Harbison Award for Gifted Teaching from the Danforth Association.
