Elizabeth HayElizabeth Hay was born in Owen Sound, Ontario, the daughter of a high school principal and a painter. She grew up in small Ontario towns and attended the University of Toronto. She worked as a broadcaster on CBC Radio and then as a freelance documentry maker in Latin America. She taught writing at New York University before returning to Canada.
