Elizabeth FlandersThis story grew out of Elizabeth's direct experience with young people-as a mother, grandmother, and teacher of 40 years in widely diverse environments. It is in response to their hunger for a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in ourworld. Living on a rural peninsula in Washington state, she has come to know the natural world intimately-in communication with the plants and trees, and the deer, birds, raccoons, rabbits, coyotes, and bears that frequent her land. They have shown her the beauty and joy that comes with living in reciprocity with nature.
