Elizabeth A RobertsElizabeth A. Roberts grew up and spent her early years on a Colorado ranch. There her love of animals showed in her confidante, a small shaggy-eared donkey given to her as a birthday present. When education beyond high school beckoned, she attended Aams State University from which she holds a B.A. in history, German, Latin, and geology. Her M.A., also at ASU is in theatre and communication. She furthered her education at Ohio University, became a University Fellow, and earned her Ph.D. in communication theory, and ancient and modern rhetoric. For thirty years, Roberts was a faculty member with the communication arts department at Ohio Northern University. There she taught persuasion, communication theory, oral interpretation of literature, directed the public speaking program, and created Readers Theatre productions. While at ONU, her first loss of sight and subsequent cornea transplants (3 in Ohio, 2 in CO) provided a means to achieve vision again. In 2003, as a Full Professor, she retired and returned to her native state with a pewter-gray cat in tow. She continues to have a special love for donkeys and cats. The glimpses of her life she provides in her memoir reveal the hope and love she and, indeed, all of us need to survive, to live, to flourish. Read More Read Less
