Elaine Cumming Elaine Cumming was director of the Albany Mental Health Research Unit of the New York State Department of Mental Hygiene and professor of sociology at the State University of New York at Albany. Her research into varying aspects of social deviance ad social control has been conducted with the Psychiatric Services Branch of the Saskatchewan Department of Health, with Cornell University under a joint appointment.
