Dug CubieDug Cubie is a lecturer in the School of Law, University College Cork, Ireland.Dr Dug Cubie worked for over 10 years in refugee protection and humanitarian action, including with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in he UK, Belgium, Nepal and the Republic of Congo, and with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Irish Refugee Council in Dublin.Immediately prior to returning to academia, Dug worked for the Irish Red Cross Society, in particular covering the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami Relief and Recovery Programme in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. This experience led directly to his PhD research examining the right to humanitarian assistance in natural and human-made disasters undertaken in the School of Law, University College Cork, and on-going research focus on the protection of persons in humanitarian crises.
