Duane VandenbuscheAuthor Duane Vandenbusche, professor of history at Western State College in Gunnison since 1962, is the author of six books on the Gunnison country and western Colorado. Until 2007, he doubled as cross-country coach at the college, where his men's an women's teams won 12 national championships. In 1972 and 1973, Vandenbusche and two friends, John Hrovat and Dave Nix, traversed the length of the Black Canyon from Cimarron to its end.
