Douglas V SteereDouglas Steere has long been recognized as an authority on the spiritual life, having authored numerous books on the topic, including Doors into Life, Together in Solitude, and Gleanings (Upper Room Books). His extensive travels on behalf of the Amercan Friends Service Committee and Friends World Committee took him to Germany, Scandinavia, Britain, Africa, and Asia. The breadth of his ecumenical involvement was impressive, leading him, for example, to represent the Society of Friends (Quakers) as an Observer Delegate at the Second Vatican Council of the Catholic Church.
