Dorothy L EspelageDorothy L. Espelage, Ph.D., is an Edward William Gutgsell & Jane Marr Gutgsell Endowed Professor and Hardie Scholar of Education, in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She is an University Schola and has fellow status in Division 17 (Counseling Psychology) and recent recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in Prevention Science of the American Psychological Association. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Indiana University in 1997. She has conducted research on bullying, homophobic teasing, sexual harassment, dating violence, and gang violence for the last 20 years. As a result, she presents regularly at regional, national, and international conferences and is author on over 120 peer-reviewed journal articles and 25 chapters. She is Associate Editor of the Journal of Counseling Psychology, Immediate Past Vice-President of Division E (Counseling/Human Development) of the American Educational Research Association, and co-Director of the National Partnership to End Interpersonal Violence.
