During his seven years as Vietnam war correspondent for Scripps Howard Newspapers in Vietnam, he covered the major actions of the war. He also covered the Indo-Pakstani conflict, the war in Cyprus, the Arab-Israeli war, and various revolutions. Later, with The Stars and Stripes he covered hotspots in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe, including the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet Union.
