Domenico VolpiDomenico Volpi, born in 1925, directed the youth weekly "Il Vittorioso" from 1948 to 1966. During that time, the magazine brought together the best names in youth journalism and helped create the Italian school of comics (Jacovitti, Caesar, Caprioli,Craveri, Zeccara, Nizzi, Bonelli, De Luca, Landolfi, Peroni, Polese). In those years and beyond, he held various positions in the field of education: he was the national head of the Youth Movement of Catholic Action; he founded and directed the Uisper (Italian Union of Educational Periodical Press for Youth), and on an international level, he was Vice President of the Bureau International de l'Enfance and President of the International Commission on Youth Press and Literature, a position he held for 25 years. He taught "Social Communication Techniques" at the School of Social Work and at the School for Specialized Educators at the Magistero Maria Assunta in Rome. In 1977, he founded the Service Group for Youth Literature, of which he is currently the honorary president, continuing to carry out intense cultural animation and awareness activities with "Meet the Author" events in schools, conferences for teachers and parents, and events promoting books and reading. From 1978 to 2004, he was the editor-in-chief of the children's monthly "La Giostra."
