I began to realize what appealed to me was that the writers actually lived during the time they were writing about. This made it all seem so real as though I ha stepped back in time with them. Some of my best friends live in books. I wanted to give kids today that same feeling. To be able to look back into another time period, my books are based in the 1960s and early 1970s.
