Derrick AtkinsDerrick Atkins is the Training Director at the Minneapolis Electrical JATC. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the University of Minnesota and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Electrical Construction and Maintenance from DunwoodyCollege of Technology. He also holds a Class A Master Electrical license with the State of Minnesota. Atkins joined the IBEW Local 292 as an apprentice electrician in 1996 and completed his apprenticeship in 2000. He has worked as a foreman and general foreman on a variety of industrial projects. In 2005, Mr. Atkins became a full-time instructor at the Minneapolis Electrical JATC, and two years later worked as a project manager and estimator with his primary focus on design build of various industrial projects. He then returned to full-time teaching at the JATC and currently serves as the training director.
