An avid reader from very early on, during these very impressionable years, it was rare for Dernel to come across books that reflected her or othrs she could relate. She was perplexed by this, but her young mind could offer no solutions. She eventually decided that one day she would write a book( one that would not leave the reader feeling confused and disconnected) Dernel has dedicated her adult life to children and young people, and one of her life's mission is to create a character that all children can relate.
