Dennis F RivardDennis Rivard was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1953. He earned a BA in English from Southeastern Massachusetts University (now University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth). His passion and gift for writing poetry were apparent as early as grade scool. Over the years to follow, Dennis demonstrated his remarkable talent as a highly prolific poet. During the 1970's Dennis was a tie-died in the wool hippie -- from protesting the war in Vietnam to exploration of alternative religions, he typified the counter-culture spirit of the times. He developed a case of wanderlust and traveled about the United States, including two hitch hiking adventures to California and back. His eclectic work history includes stints as an admissions coordinator in two hospitals as well as jobs clerking jobs in a convenience stores. A quiet, thoughtful soul and lover of nature, Dennis relocated to the Upper Valley region of Vermont in the late 1980's quenching his desire for a simpler and more low- key lifestyle. It is there that he met and married his wife Shirley Barrett. His poetry is a reflection of his journeys - both physical and emotional. It is Dennis's hope that his poetry will help his readers in their own quest for understanding themselves and our culture in these days of challenge and uncertainty. Read More Read Less
